City of Lakes Loppet

Made it down to Minneapolis this weekend to take part in the 25k classic race at the City of Lakes Loppet. My race was on Sunday but on Saturday they had all kinds of cool events. They had the skijoring race which combines cross country skiing and having a dog pull you, sort of like a mushing team or something. This was quite the hilarious event as having 100's of dogs in one place and trying to get to them to race isn't an easy task.

And heres a video of the start!
After the skijoring we checked out the ice biking race. This pitted bikers on a hairpin turn laden ice course on Lake of the Isles. I was quite amazed to not witness any falls from bikes slipping on the ice!

Lining the ski course finish they had all kinds of cool ice sculptures that had been made just that morning.

They also did some sprints and a kids race (more of just a walk across the uptown finish). This nice father was helping his son along.
On Sunday I got ready for the big race! The temps were kinda tricky for kick wax and during my race I had to deal with only a little bit of kick. This ended up being a minor problem as I sort of pulled my groin from slipping on the kicks. Despite that though I really enjoyed the course and gave the race my all!

Happy!
